On My Account

I checked out my bank account

on line just the other day, and to

my amazement I noted three

electronic direct deposits:

1. My usual monthly Social Security;

2. My Coronavirus Relief from The
Federal Treasury which was late,
and I never expected to see;

3. A VA Pension which had been filed
for over a year ago, and again which
I thought would never arrive in my
lifetime.

Surprise! Surprise! A widening of my

blood shot eyes at an inflated account

more than three times its normal

size.

I’ll pay the rent, my utilities, assorted

incidentals and accounts due.

Then, I’ll just sit on the balance

for a while, and pull up my account

everyday until I get used to having

more liquidity than I usually do.

I’ll grin a big old grin and relish

for a time the financial windfall

I am currently wallowing in,

a pig swimming in slop, I figure.

It’s not like I’m a billionaire

who’s secure and set for life.

I’m just an old pig wallowing

in slop while it’s there.

About what comes next? Well,

I’m too old and jaded. And in

reality, I just couldn’t give a care.
