Dinner Time

I say, Dinner, you want your dinner?

She wags her tail and knows it’s time.

Smart little girl, knows the right words,

knows every move I make. After all

we’re together all day, 24/7. People

who can tell time know that phrase,

railway conductors and engineers,

711 convenience store clerks, stock-

brokers, butchers, barkers and the

like. I left out the candlestick makers

and dogs intentionally. They're wise

in other ways. They both know when

it’s dinnertime, as do I. Next time I’ll

say, “repast.” Let’s see how many of

you get excited about that.
