I
didn’t need to pan for gold to
reach
my golden years. Although,
in
the past I was taught to look for
answers,
I have come to realize that
they
found me when least expected.
I
was not born to discover a cure for
any
disease or disorder, nor to solve
the
equation which leads to some
complex
mathematical solution.
Such
tasks are there for those with
the
propensity and predilection to
process
and explore.
Mapping
of Earth was performed long
before
I was born. Beethoven, single
handedly,
composed his Ninth Symphony.
Neither
the first nor the last movements
were
scored or arranged by me.
The
planets were named, peaks of the
highest
mountains and deepest chasms
in
the oceans have been reached by those
more
willing and capable than the likes
of
me.
I
am merely the random offspring in
the
long evolutionary line of a twisted
DNA
chain, for better or worse, fittingly
placed
where I stand. I am who I was
born
to be.
From
the dawn of history, I suppose
it
was destined to be. And I am glad to
meet
you for who you became. You and
I,
likewise, yet uniquely in our own way,
are
inextricably linked substantively,
created
from the same. In harmony
together,
like it or not, we sing this
lifelong
syncopated melody--Oh, the
Long
and Winding Road.
