I
open my eyes, and no surprise, to awaken
another
day. So many in a row, I’m grateful,
but
used to the light which reaches out to me
yet
again.
You
won’t here from me anymore on the day
which
ends my longstanding streak of such
good
fortune.
And
speaking of which, at the beginning of each
month,
I check my bank account balance on the
web
site to see that the deposit from Social
Security
has been deposited appropriately.
I
expect timely clockwork on that monthly
transaction.
My life depends upon it, govern-
mental
reliability, you understand.
And
adding to my relief in rising once again,
the
punctual timing and placement of funds
enhances
my survivability, and does not
disappoint.
With
more good fortune, I can survive and feed
my
appetites for another month, provided I con-
tinue
to open my eyes wide to the consistency of
daily
happenings.
Oh
joy for my being, and the direct depositing
of
Social Security! I thank my lucky stars and
FDR.
