I’m
pissed, tired of waiting, my phone calls
not
returned by management or maintenance.
I
pay my rent on time and expect a call back
in
return.
There
is a big pile of dried brush and dead
branches
beside my patio in the back yard.
It
was left there by two maintenance men
who
cut it away to get at a faulty air condi-
tioning
unit which needed to be replaced
(not
mine but the neighbor’s next door).
Anyway,
the eye sore and potential fire hazard
has
been baking out there in 90 degree heat
for
two damned days, and no one has come to
clear
it away.
I
am concerned that some fool will pass by and
torch
it, and the conflagration will set the apart-
ment
building on fire. And no one in management
I’ve
left messages for has had the courtesy to
return
my calls.
I
was in a fire at this same complex a couple of
year
prior. Some idiot set a carport ablaze at
2
AM in the morning. And since it was attached
to
the building, the whole works went up in smoke,
parked
cars and all. I Barely escaped with my life
that
night.
I
figure management is consumed with better things
to
do, like text messages to family and friends, or re-
sponding
to Facebook entries, Googling or Tweeting
about
their useless lives in corporate America today.
Who
can say?
All
I know is, no one will return my calls while a huge
pile
of combustible debris is out there waiting for some
pyromaniac
to ignite it, and jump up with orgasmic glee
as
the entire complex erupts into flames.
I
can almost smell the smoke right now.
