It’s
that tired adage about old dogs
unable
to learn new tricks. Mostly
these
days in my old age, I con-
sider
myself lucky if I can maintain
what
I have for another day.
Seems
a good day is one which
comes
with the fewest losses,
inside
and out. The obituary for
this
day anyway does not include
me
or anyone in close proximity.
That
my friends, with the advance-
ment
of time, is comfortingly sublime.
Ah
but for today, even though my
thoughts
and prayers remain the same,
I
am born again, renewed enough to
endure
the pain.
And
I am satisfied by the wagging
of
my dog’s tail who relies upon
me
to keep on the same for yet
another
day.
