Resting
on the stoep, muddy shoes, potted
plants
and a one-eyed frog. The sprinter,
arms
and legs gyrating in slow motion,
crosses
the finish line first in the 100-yard
dash.
Saturday, the mall receives throngs
of
shopper, fists filled with money eager
to
buy. A gopher, exercises his ininstinctive
predilection,
digging a tunnel under ground.
The
homeless veteran slumped over in the
doorway
sleeps off his drunken stupor from
last
night’s encounter with a bottle of cheap
wine.
At this point in time, the sun is predis-
posed
to shine, not everywhere and on every-
one,
mind you. Skies are overcast in Akron,
and
the forecast today has a 90-percent chance
of
rain. I like the sound of the word, predilection.
Makes
it seem as if there is a preference
in
the matter. Left or Right, which way to go?
Some
prefer just leaving it alone, and going
with
the flow. Make up your own mind.
