The Grand Experiment

At nearly 74-years and counting,

I find myself not yet tiring of this

grand experiment being lived by

you and me. (Yes, I still have my

place and time, a sufficient amount

of food to eat and enough oxygen

to breathe.)

Reflecting about life and consider-

ing history and dreams provide me

with daily activity.

Have I mentioned that frequently

I have fond and frivolous thoughts

of you? Well, here it is, let it be

said, I do. Seems to happen that

way randomly out of the blue.

The test tube I’m living in is fluid,

sometimes murky, sometime clear.

I shall admit that here and there,

now and again, I’ll make shit

up, mostly about the inane

and stinking fecal side of

things--You know, the waste

matter Humanity Project of

Me and You. My god, this

experiment we’re in is a zoo.

The Lab Rat Care Taker of Life has

occasionally thrown me a bone on

which I can chew. Often, I’ll look

back on it all with slurping lips

and gnashing teeth and wonder

about you.
