Harbinger

Wars again this year, thousands more shall fall

on all sides, a pathetic continuum from last year

and the year before, decades of war and more.

Bullets, drones, fighter jets and missiles fly, IEDs

explode and deform. More innocents and com-

batants injured and maimed, more shall die.

What’s more, across the land, mass shootings

promise to continue as breaking news. Congress

sends more condolences and prayers, and fails

to legislate any meaningful controls. The Earth’s

climate is in active revolt and shall one day, sooner

than later, eliminate our species as a whole. One

day, it appears eminent, cockroaches shall rule this

planet of ours. If millions of Iranians can take to the

streets over the assassination of one of their mur-

derous leaders, why then for God’s sake (and our

own) can’t we? Again and again with a flaming end

in sight, as a reporter once cried out...

Oh, the humanity!
