There
were five mass extinctions in Earth’s four-billion
year
history. The last one struck some 65-million years
ago.
We humans have been around only for perhaps the
last
200,000 years. In that time we have managed to
cause
a lot of death and destruction ourselves. And to-
day
we’re well on our way to causing a climate calamity
which
could and will cause the demise of life on Earth
as
we know it. Nothing I can say or do will delay or re-
verse
the dire situation we face. So, why bother writing
these
terrifying and horrific apocalyptic lines? Well, thanks
to
the natural course of the Cosmos and the man-made
schemes,
death is the end of the line. And rest assured,
in
due time, one way or another anthropologically speaking,
you’ll
get yours and I am bound to get mine.
