Spring
forward; fall back...we are instructed
precisely
what to do twice a year—spring
forward;
fall back. And all the clocks are reset
in
most places to comply. Some, however, are
resistant
and stay put with their good old re-
liable
Standard Time. Farmers know their milk
cows
don’t care. No matter what, there is a
certain
time when the milking needs to be done.
Birds
and other beasts of the Earth couldn’t
care
less as well. And I, being retired and other-
wise
non-compliant critter myself, couldn’t give
a
healthy crap either. When it’s time, it’s time.
That
is unless, I want to miss my favorite program
on
TV. Then damn it, time change (man-made that
is)
has a way of conforming me. But no matter the
time,
no matter the season, day, month or year, it
only
matters that you are here. The sun says no
matter
what, when it’s time, it’s time. Look up, if it’s
light,
it’s daytime; if it’s dark, it’s night. The biological
clock
within, being in sync with the algorithms of
nature,
tells me when it’s time for bed. The hell with
what
the clocks may happen to say. What in hell do
you
think the yawn was designed to tell us anyway?
