Heaven
and Hell are in my head a lot
these
days. Old folks such as I find the
need
to prepare mentally for the inevitable.
Thing
is, most people of age and wisdom
have
seen both Heaven and Hell over their
lifetime
lived here on Earth. Oh, the cher-
ished
gains, children, grand kids, the grat-
ifying
love affair, the long awaited new job
with
pay raise. Oh, thank you God most will
give
praise. Yet too we are plagued by losses
with
which to contend: Why were the beloved
ones
taken away? Why the cancer at such a
vital
and tender age? It’s not fair is it, that
fateful
and tragic state of affairs? On Earth,
Heaven
and Hell are man and nature made.
It’s
a crap shoot sometimes, who can justify,
and
who or what is to blame? Prayers go
unanswered
every day. Ah, my friends, one
thing
is for sure, there is and end to all of it
in
time for each and everyone. And age tells
us
our time will come. Before you go, turn
out
the lights, sometimes the brightness hurts
these
weary eyes. I have come to understand
that
the darkness is my long lost brother who
leads
the way into that forever night which
promises
to comfort me in everlasting peace.
