Do I select
music for listening to suit my mood or
Do I let the
music I listen to put me in the mood?
Some of
both, I suppose. And I believe if we con-
sciously think
about it, many of us are that way.
The music I
prefer spans a wide and diverse spec-
trum of
genres. I like classical, rock-and-roll, jazz,
bluegrass,
folk, selections of popular music from
every decade.
It is my
belief that by limiting oneself to a specific
type of
music, one tends to stagnate mood and
comprehension.
Music is an expressive medium
which should
be experience in the broadest sense.
I also
believe that those who consistently listen to
Denigrating
and obnoxious lyrical drivel which glo-
rifies foul
language and violence tends to stimu-
late and perpetuate
like behaviors in the listener.
While I am a
proponent of free speech, and would
be opposed
to censorship on many levels, I might
suggest that
one ingest the resentful and vitriolic
tones with
some thoughtful caution and moderation.
Try some
soothing tonal salve on those emotional
wounds occasionally.
Throughout the ages it has
been found
to work wonders on the attitude while
offering beneficially
healing properties as well.
