The Plan

As a young man, like so many others, I had my

Visions, I had my dreams. Unlike many others,

Those aspirations were not long-range. I went

After what I wanted, and to attain that could

Never come fast enough for me. It’s no sur-

prise then that I will never be known for my

Farsighted visionary acumen. And here I am

Now in my old age never having built a fast-

food empire or the world’s largest retail bus-

iness, never having come up with a cure for

Cancer or inventing a revolutionary break-

Through for anything. That thinking takes a

Unique individual with some lofty and high-

minded vision indeed, a financial or scientific

Wizard, an entrepreneurial guru, someone

Way beyond the limits of my junior league.

Let me put it in rudimentary terms: I have

Always been a simple man with simple plan.

Plain and simple, that is who I am. Should

Someone ask me today where I would like

To be, what I see myself doing in five years?

I would without a doubt reply, still alive and

Breathing right here on good old Mother Earth.

And like so many others, I recon, that has been

The plan all along. It works for me.
