The Nature of Our Humanity

I have always admired the musicians
and composers. I could not even begin
to name all of them here. Of course, we
each have our favorites. So, I shall leave

their naming up to you. And too, I hold
in esteem and have great appreciation for
those artists who have created all manner
of works in myriad styles and media.

You may prefer Wyeth; I favor Picasso to
name only two. There are millions of
the talented and gifted ones, many of
whom shall never walk in the limelight

of fortune and fame, you know. Actors,
writers, producers, dancers, choreogra-
phers, designers, grandmas who crochet,
brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, next door

neighbors, strangers who work wood,
who weave baskets, shape diamonds,
carve stone and throw clay. There are
athletes, amateur and professional who

excel and play at the top of their game.
I could go on and on, never ceasing to
be amazed. And the thing which pisses
me off more than anything is to witness

a person who possesses none of these
exemplary traits, who excels at nothing
but chaos and confusion, who divides
rather than unites, who lies, deceives

and denigrates, who contains not one
grain of compassion, who holds not an
iota of common sense or morality, and yet
is seated in the White House as Commander
in Chief and President of these United States.

Oh, Good Lord, for shame! That side of our
humanity, dear people of honorable intention,
I contend, is an outright disgrace.
