Had
the likes of Hitler, Mussolini, Putin,
Erdogan,
Saddam Hussein, bin Laden and
other
autocrats been moved to create music
poetry
or dishing up culinary delights, had
they
been dedicated to painting, sculpting
or
to collecting stamps, butterflies or coins,
had
they a modicum of compassion for the
less
fortunate among us, the world of human-
kind
would indeed have been fashioned into
a
finer place. Most will agree with the notor-
ious
and infamous names I have noted herein.
I
could, however, list a few more current ones
which
may arouse your ire and stoke your
consternation,
but I’ll leave it to the media
to
break the news to you. I personally find
Whitman
and Picasso never cease to inspire,
and
Beethoven and Copeland soothe the sav-
age
beast I may have instead turned out to be.
