Save These, Where on Earth and Who Might I Be?

The mother and housewife from Chile,
The migrant laborer from Mexico, the
soccer player from Hungry, the couple
from Mumbai, and their celebrated

Festival of Lights, The African American
drummers and dancers flowing rhythmically,
a delight to the eye, the German neighbor
and friend, the grandfather from Greece.

The Vietnamese refugee who maintains the
place where I live, the Zuni Native American
Fancy Dancer, the Japanese Taiko drummer,
the Korean student and the shopkeeper from

Ukraine, the Aussie and Brit, the Israeli musician,
the Palestinian tailor, the Italian restaurateur, the
Filipino and Puerto Rican servicemen and women,
the imam from Pakistan, the waitress from Iran,

the businessman from Amsterdam, the neighbor
next door from Singapore—Save all these and so
much more, where on Earth and who might I be?
Surely just a lone and bland, homogenized white

guy of undetermined immigrant ancestry, devoid
of culture and diversity, sans the beautiful faces
and customs gathered together and blended into
a brilliant spectral array of universal harmony.
