Here we are whirling around together
on Planet Earth, in our daily axis rotation
from day to night, in our annual orbit
around the sun, our galactic address:
Earth, Solar System, Orion Arm,
Milky Way, Local Group, Virgo
Supercluster, Laniakea Supercluster,
Universe.
That seems a lot to commit to memory,
so you you might want to write that
down in the event one day you are
asked from where it is you came?
One thing is for certain, we humans,
plants and other species are all along
for the ride, no suitcases, no special
itinerary, no passport required.
Fasten your seat belts. At a speed of
67,000 miles per hour, it will take us
approximately 200 millions years to
make a full rotation around the Milky
Way.
Instead of the traditional Mile High
Club you are now officially designated
a full-fledged member in good standing
of EANS— Earth Astronomical Nerd
Society. Enjoy your flight.
