Wanna hear one of the strangest
things which has happened to me?
Some 50-miles from St. Louis,
out in the middle of nowhere, I
was checking out out a vacant
house for sale.
I discovered a high school
year book left behind which
was dated 1938. It was form
the same high school I had
attended in 1962.
My uncle, Buddy, had written
in it to the previous owner, a
classmate of his. When I phoned
my uncle days later in Phoenix
and told him of my find, he told
me that was really weird for he
was not really that popular in
school, and likely hadn’t signed
five or so yearbooks back then.
Imagine, 50-miles away in a remote
place, some 50-years later and my
uncle’s name and handwriting appear.
Spooky!
Wanna hear something else which
beats all? I’ve been a smoker for 60
years. And was a heavy drinker, both
of which should have done me in
years ago. And although more than
likely I’ll not make it to 100, at
nearly 74-years, I’m still here.
Let me ask you a question, do you
know what hangs on the wall and
whistles?...Custard pie! Now that
there is funny.
And guess what? There are still
lots of things you probably don’t
know about me.
As Humphrey Bogart told Claude
Rains to end the movie, Casablanca,
“I think this is the beginning of a
beautiful friendship.”
Sometimes I just need to let it all out.
