Groundhog Day Routine

Paid bills for the month—Check.

Wrote a critical piece concerning the

State of the Union—Check.

to local newspaper—Check.

Posted daily piece and photos on

Facebook

and other social media sites—Check.

Boiled potatoes and eggs. Made potato

salad for dinner—Check.

Had a phone checkup with my nurse

from the VA. Rated pain level at 4 on a

scale of 1 to 10—Check.

Printed off 5-days of writing for my

files—Check.

Closed my eyes, kicked-back in recliner.

Listened to Beethoven for half-an-hour—Check.

In between my daily routine activities, I managed

to move my bowels, smoke cigarettes, feed the dog,

eat lunch, talk with my son on the telephone, watch

TV and catch up on the news.

Groundhog day for me again. I hated watching it

over and again. In real life, though, practically

speaking, like breathing and the heartbeat,

repeat, repeat, repeat keeps me on my feet so

to speak, albeit somewhat painful hobbling

around. I must keep in mind, Beethoven is

always there at my beck-and-call when I

need him. Oh, what a relief it is. I broke up

this piece into 3 lines per stanza. Hope you

don’t mind. And, the hell with you if you do.
