A million years from now, no one will care.
Of course the history of reality proposes
that humanity on the face of Earth will no
longer be there.
So, with that in mind, I write these lines.
We were on the verge, society that is, of
getting it right. We knew better, had the
foresight and lord knows the ability to
save ourselves from oblivion.
But being the self-centered, power-seeking,
biased and self-loathing species we evolved
to be, we haplessly pushed ourselves over
the edge into the abyss of extinction.
Like so many epochs and societies of our
kind which preceded us, we failed to work
together in harmony to preserve the natural
life-sustaining re-sources of our once beau-
tiful and abundant planet.
Routinely, we slaughtered other species
and our own kind with grossly misdirected
impunity, using our methodological gods
and pathological pretenses to control and
suppress one another.
I am but one who portrays the delusional
and inherent human trait of narcissism in
thinking that these thoughts and these dis-
posable lines of mine could ever hope to
survive a million years and the ever-present
and indeterminable clean sweep of time.
(Good luck with that.)
