In Remembrance of the Unknown

Some men, and some women too are known for
what they do, something unique and unusual which
most other folks cannot ever do. Many men, and
indeed lots of women too, are never known for those

things ordinary or outstanding they fail to do. No
one, not men or women break world records or win
medals, have fame, fortune or notoriety bestowed
upon them for activities and accomplishments never

tried or achieved. No, Nobel’s, Olympic Gold, Medals
of Honor, Emmy's, Halls of Fame, New York Times
Headlines and Guinness entries are not meant for them,
those and these who do not rank, rate or dare to accom-

plish or compete. So, my friends, men and women alike,
where does that leave us, the unknown amassed among
billions of planetary inhabitants who shall remain anony-
mously doomed to the unrecorded Halls of Eternity?

Remember Esquire Robert of East Sussex who fell at the
Battle of Hastings back in 1066? Too bad..before his
untimely demise, he was a strapping young lad on the
verge of doing something truly great. Then there was

Rebecca, his betrothed, the only one who knew. And
neither he nor she ever had the foresight to learn to
read and write. For all we know, it may have been
Esquire William who lived 3-doors down.
