Something About Forever

I shall not miss TV,

it shall prattle on for

centuries without me.

This life of mine

without a car turned

out to be a refreshing

bliss for me.

My list of things

to do slipped into

the rear view mirror,

and before I knew it,

I realized I could

do without.

I sometimes think

about the forever

darkness of death

which awaits us all.

Most of us would

like to be remembered

occasionally when

we’re gone.

But while I’m still

alive I realize what

it’s like to be forgotten.

In death nothing

matters anymore.

Not even a dim

and distant light

will shine on what

may have been.

Even forever is

a meaningless

unformed word

in the darkness

never to be heard.
