wanting more

wanting more

it should come
as no surprise
it is part of
human nature
after all
we’re all looking
for more
one more
slice of pizza
one more roll of
the dice
one more line of coke
just one more win at
the race track and then
we’ll be set
oh, and then one more
day to follow
one more lonely night
it’s how we make it
all along
one more birthday
just one more visit
to the bahamas
and then
surely we’ll be fine
one more at bat
stepping up to the plate
one more cigarette
before we quit
one more breath of
fresh air
and we’ll be there
one more trophy
adding to what we’ve got
sure a blue ribbon
or gold medal will do
one more photograph
the naked one of you
i’ve longed for to
complete my collection
one more new car
I’ve always loved that
new car smell
one more time
just one more
mountain to climb
one more pair
of shoes
blue suede
this time
and then
that’s it
one more
for the road
make mine a double
this time
just one more
chance
I beg of you
one more
I pray
to get me
through the day

at happy hour
held in a bar
I was visiting
for the very first
time a woman
worked her way
through the
crowded room
and came up
to me
and out of the blue
she smiled
and said most
pleasantly to me
you are a very
good looking
man
which after a
rough week made me
feel good
and finishing
her drink she
smiled at me
one last time
and walked
out the door
and I beguiled
with flattery
and wanting more
never saw her again
damn
Sarah was her
first name
I believe
but intoxicated
by her charm
I neglected to
get her last
