Turned Around

It was one of those ordinary days,

you know, everything was in place.

We often expect things to be this

way, mailbox on the corner...check,

Burger King over there...check,

Though this is not your neighborhood

you’ve been down this street before.

Pawn shop a block or two that way…

check, bus stop right where it should

be...check. Wait a minute, if I’m not

mistaken, last time I was here that

brownstone walk-up was on the other

side of the street. Hold on, Lizzy, me

thinks things got turned around here!

Let me see...the street sign says 5^th

Street and Oak. Wrong damned tree..I

thought this was Maple. Well, excuse

me! I should have read the leaves.
