Submitted a recent poem
of mine the other day to one
of those literary publications.
Haven’t done that in a long
while because unless you are
a noted writer, acceptance is
a difficult endeavor.
Besides, the wait-time to be
notified takes anywhere from
3 to 6-months. And I happen
to be one of those impatient
bastards who hates to wait
when the chances are you’ll
likely to be rejected.
I happen to think it was one
of my better works about an
old friend of mine, a quad-
riplegic who missed being
able to drive, because he
could no longer get up and
go if and when he wanted or
needed to.
He encouraged me to never
give up my car in case I ever
needed to make a quick get-
away.
Anyway, the publishing jour-
nal I had chosen also accepted
artistic and photographic sub-
missions. Now, that was a plus
for me as I have a plethora of
both which I had captured
and created over the years,
some exceptional work if I do
say so myself.
So, I selected five images to
submitted along with my
poem. Now I am 76-years
old, likely too advanced in
age to suddenly become an
overnight wonder. Besides,
It would take more than one
poem and five artistic im-
pressions to achieve that.
And for god’s sake what
are the chances I’ll survive
the 3 to 6-months wait time
this publisher or any other
takes to reply? Folks, time
here is not on my side.
