An Ice Storm to Blame

The ice storm took the old oak tree down.
Over time, the river has narrowed its flow,
Trickling to the sea. The town movie house

Used to be situated on that vacant lot,
But was demolished some years ago
And hauled away. Geese continue to fly

Overhead, yet there have been changes
Made in the winged-v we fail to see. My
Friends, Don’t be deceived by the time-

Piece, committing to meet again tomor-
row at the same time and same place.
Only aging fools will gather there instead.

I cannot recall the moment or even the
Day when stark and disturbing variations
Jumped out at me from the bathroom

Mirror. Why seemingly, in the blinking of
An eye there has been this waning monu-
mental change. And I do believe it may

Have been around the time when that ice
Storm took the old oak tree down. Since
Then, it seems to me, nothing around here

On this side of the mirror has been quite
The same.
