Something About the Periodic Table

Each day of our lives

how many of us in our

daily routines consider

the air which we breath,

the water we need to

sustain us?

Those two elements are

merely a fraction of the

118 basic elements from

which our entire uni-

verse is composed.

The discovery and estab-

lishment of The Periodic

Table of Elements is con-

sidered one of the most

important scientific revel-

ations and achievements

in the history of mankind.

There would be no life or

matter of any kind without

considering The Periodic

Table of Elements.

What’s more, in the nuclear

fusion of the stars and their

inevitable explosion, all the

necessary elements for life

are generated.

Think of it, But for mankind’s

discovery and awareness of

The Periodic Table of Elements,

the Cosmos would have no

voice. There would be no need

for 1, 2, 3...or A, B, C, no requi-

site for New York City, chocolate

ice cream, no want for the likes

of Taylor Swift, or you and me.

The Story of You and Me

Nature or nurture,

why you, why me?

There are so many

questions

to which answers

are random

and unexplained.

One day

simply we are,

and in an

undetermined

span of

time, we are

no more.

And in the

meantime

because we are

cognitively

who we are

our story unfolds.

What were the

chances of that?

Voilà!

Incomprehensibility

amazing

wouldn’t you say?

Organically

and originally,

the substance

of stars came

into play.

Biologically and

categorically,

we are

a star-struck

mystery

so it seems.

Present and Accounted For

My Facebook postings (pictures, artwork

and words) today have surely been on

display before. After more than 10-years

on this site it is difficult not to repeat

oneself.

Besides, some may have missed a

particular posting, another may have

selected a favorite from before. In any

case, I post regularly most every day,

similar to the sunrise, mostly seemingly

the same, only different somehow.

Take it as a sign that you and I are present

and accounted for yet another day. Good

morning, Sunshine. What’s on your mind

today? Me? Praise be, a little older, but

pretty much the same.

What It's Sometimes All About

Pictures and words,

people and places,

music, man, yours

and mine, stop and

go, a step to and fro,

a memory in review,

a gift from you to me,

from me to you.

What more can

we give, money can’t

buy. It’s all about love,

hatred and

indifference, my friend,

accept and deny,

refuse and comply,

the choices we make,

the chances we take,

hopes and dreams,

pitfalls and insecurities,

bridges and blockades.

That’s life,

what it’s

sometimes all about,

my friend,

with and without

a doubt,

together, on our

own alone,

you and I,

and then there’s

the other guy.

Cavalcade

cav·al·cade

noun
a formal procession of people walking, on horseback, or riding in
vehicles. "the royal cavalcade proceeded through the city"
How many words lie in wait for us to use?
How many words to describe a thought to pass along?
How many words from which to choose in a writing to use?
Words, over 100,000 of them packed into Webster’s used
every day in various languages throughout the world,
common words used prolifically, rarely used words with
something unusual perhaps in the vernacular to explain,
misspelled and mispronounced words often relayed.
Anemone, Quinoa, Worcestershire, Isthmus, Onomatopoeia
difficult words to spell and pronounce. This, that, you and I,
words used often everyday. Cavalcade, an unusual yet appro-
priate word I have chosen to display a parade of words on
display. Besides, when pronounce verbally, I like the sound
of it, cav·al·cade /kavəlˈkād/

Infinity III

The break of yet another day.

Billions added to all those

which came before.

And there’s more.

For me after nearly

seventy-seven years in

passing, fewer names and

memories remain to claim.

No one is left

to account for forever.

In the pending darkness

Only Infinity remains.

Ode to Fingers and Hands

You obeyed the brain

and reached or recoiled.

Involuntarily you scratched

an itch, gripped or rubbed

the pain. You signaled

left or right, up or down,

halt or proceed. Angry, you

flashed a middle finger.

Happy or pleased, you

soothed and caressed.

In writing, you gave

your worst or your

best. You loved to write

and draw, held the pen

and drew with pin-point

accuracy. So much in life

have you done for me.

You wiped the tears away,

stroked the soft and supple

skin. Clenched fingers and

fist, you afforded me a

handy and worthy defense.

Oh, graceful hands and

sensual fingers of mine,

from satin to silk, rugged

to rough, hot and cold, you

have extended to me the

glorious sense of feeling

and touch. And I applaud

you for that.

Understated

As far as I know,

either it is

or it isn’t so.

A Place in Time

Had George and Bettie

not gotten together at a

specific time and place,

in this 13.8 billion year

time span, I may have

never been.

Had I been named Bob or

Bruce a year earlier or latter,

I as Christopher would likely

not be speaking to you right

now.

Think how the trillions of

stars in the Cosmos had to

align just right to form the

cellular conglomerate

creating the likes of you

and me individually.

Nothing short of incom-

prehensibly plausible, I

recon. Why, what were

the odds of a life suppor-

ting planet such as Earth

having coalesced in the

expansive universal

clutter to evolve and

harbor a species such

as ours?

Genetically, I may have

been born an opossum,

a pin oak tree, an Alex-

ander the Great or a

Thomas Edison in a

different place and time.

Ah, but here I am,

the wonder of me

speaking to the wonder

of you about this

unfathomable hodge-

podge Cosmic Soup.

Could have been

otherwise, don’t

you know?

A Matter of Age

I’ll think of someone famous

or see them on TV. Some are

still alive, others are deceased.

Curiously, I will ofttimes ask

Alexa, how old is so-and-so,

how old did they live to be?

On a Netflix Comedy Special

the other day I saw Ellen De

Generes. How old is she?

And the answer was 66

years. Damn! I said out loud.

I’m nearly 77. How in the

friggin’ bloody world can

that possibly be? Ellen looks

pretty good for 66-years old.

77-years has taken its toll

on me. Sorry to say, I make

those comparisons a lot

these days. Suppose I

should consider myself

lucky being able to ask.

The Gift

An eyeful,

that’s what

I have in mind.

An eyeful

to take you

there where

I once was,

a face, a place

near and far

away, a once

in a lifetime

person or place.

Join me there.

Be mindful

with this eyeful

of mine, a gift

from me to you.

Be there too.
