Happ Days, Some Not

 

My happy times in life have been

times spent drawing,

times spent painting and sculpting,

times spent reading and writing,

traveling and taking photographs

of people and places,

times spent listening to music

and watching movies of my choosing,

times spent with family and friends

of my choosing,

times spent alone and relaxing

on rainy or snowy days,

times spent in scenically beautiful

and serene places,

times when the bills have been paid

and there was a good meal to be had.

Some will claim I have been self-serving

and could have striven to achieve more.

Some will say at times I smoked

and drank more than I should,

should have asked for help when needed,

should have been more considerate of others,

should have done what I was supposed to do,

like it or not be damned.

In matters such as these, each of us

still alive, willing and able have

their own personal accounting

to take.

In any case, I’d have to say,

Ah life, what a trip. Nice to have

known you, others not so much.

You know who you are.
