Ingenuity. As an old boss
of mine used to say—“You’ve
made a silk purse out of a sow’s
ear.”
Ingenuity. In other words, making
sweet lemonade from sour lemons.
Or more aptly said, making something
worthwhile from something other-
wise deemed impractical or useless.
Ingenuity. Getting out of a bloody
mess I’ve already made for myself.
Or turning a scale of discordant
notes into a glorious melody.
And I, well, I'll take exception with that
sow’s ear notion. I’m sure the sow
would prefer her ear to a silk purse.
Besides, my boss was an advertising
man. What in hell would he know about a
sow’s ears or ingenuity in the first place?
