What
if the telescope had preceded the wheel?
And
what if Columbus stayed at home and
took
up painting instead? Had Pangaea held
together
in one piece, would you be harvesting
a
rice paddy in your backyard today? Say we
humans
retained a prehensile tail...would earth
have
rooted enough trees from which we all
could
swing unimpeded?
Paleontologists
tell
us
that life as we have come to know it may
have
developed differently had the dinosaurs
survived
that
Chicxulub asteroid
thing. I don’t
know
about you, but I have this feeling that
new
hair growth from the ears and nose as we
age
is a developmental sign of ominous things
to
come.
I
won’t even bother getting into the bullets, bombs
and
climate change debacles.
